RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP) is pleased to announce that Dominion Resources is the recipient of the S. Buford Scott Leadership Award for 2013. The award will be presented March 14 at the organization's 20^th anniversary event at the Science Museum of Virginia.

Dominion's youth mentoring initiatives have grown over many years. Its support for youth-serving organizations is matched by the dedication of its employee volunteers, from the early days of the Richmond Public School's Lunch-Buddy program, to Junior Achievement and now, with Mr. Farrell's support, the launch of Middle School Renaissance program. The company's sustained support for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and workforce initiatives has further contributed to the good of the community. 

The award recognizes outstanding efforts by businesses, organizations or individuals who exemplify outstanding commitment to Virginia's youth, especially as mentors in schools and community-based organizations. It is named for a man synonymous with youth development, care and concern throughout Virginia, S. Buford Scott, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Scott and Stringfellow.  Mr. Scott founded VMP and is engaged in many initiatives to support youth development throughout the community.
