Dominion Tops Utility Sector On Forbes' 'America's Best Employers' List

RICHMOND, Va., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominion (NYSE: D) is the top-ranked U.S. utility on Forbes magazine's 2015 "America's Best Employers" list. The company ranked 37th overall among the 500 employers in 25 industries that were included on the list, and was the top-ranked employer among all industries in Virginia.

The magazine asked more than 20,000 American workers across the country to rank the likelihood of recommending their employer to someone else and how likely they would be to recommend other employers in their industry.

Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said:

"On behalf of Dominion's 15,000 employees, we are delighted to receive this honor. Our dedicated team of men and women stand side-by-side every day, doing important work safely and well to serve our customers, our communities and our shareholders – and that is the principal reason Dominion is a great place to work."

Farrell said that in addition to competitive pay and benefits, the company's programs to support military veterans, opportunities for community service, and focus on safety, ethics, diversity and employee wellness rate highly with Dominion employees.

Earlier this year Dominion achieved Fortune magazine's No. 1 ranking for electric and gas utilities in this year's annual "Most Admired" companies survey. Dominion has been ranked each of the past 10 years, coming in second in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Late last year, Dominion was selected Electric Light & Power magazine's 2014 "Utility of the Year." The award's criteria included customer satisfaction, philanthropic endeavors, infrastructure investments, environmental and sustainability initiatives, profitability and management of market risks.

In addition, for the sixth year in a row, Dominion has been selected as one of Military Times magazine's "Best for Vets" employers. Dominion ranked 21st out of 75 companies listed, and was first among "energy, utilities, gas & electric" sector employers.

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 24,600 megawatts of generation, 12,200 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage pipeline, and 6,455 miles of electric transmission lines.  Dominion operates one of the nation's largest natural gas storage systems with 928 billion cubic feet of storage capacity and serves utility and retail energy customers in 13 states.
