BRIDGEPORT, W.Va., Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominion Transmission Inc. today dedicated its new office building in Bridgeport, renewing its century-long commitment to the Mountaineer State.

The four-story, 106,000-square-foot building is located on a 7.5-acre site in the White Oaks Business Park adjacent to Inter­state 79. About 300 employees who worked in Clarksburg have moved into the building. Additional employees are anticipated as Dominion Transmission continues to expand its system through the addition of large new projects such as the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

The company has applied for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for the building. The LEED certification would mean the new building is recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as having seven best-in-class building strategies and practices. Among the criteria being considered for the certification are: how well the building is connected to the neighboring community and ecosystem; how efficiently it uses water and energy; how efficiently recycled and "green" building materials were used in construction; and how well employees' health and well being are addressed in the space.

Building amenities include a conference center, free parking, an exercise room with showers, lunch room and outdoor patio.

March Westin of Morgantown was the developer and general contractor. Thrasher Engineering of Bridgeport was the architect. Allegheny Design of Morgan­town did the structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design.
