Dominion Energy South Carolina Named a Most Trusted Utility Brand

Cayce, S.C. (Aug. 8, 2023) – Dominion Energy South Carolina has been named one of the nation’s “Most Trusted Utility Brands” for the second year in a row by Escalent, a top data analytics and advisory firm.

Escalent conducted surveys among 72,581 residential electric, natural gas and combination utility customers of the 141 largest U.S. utility companies. Dominion Energy South Carolina is one of 42 utilities scoring high in amount of trust customers have with their respective utility.

The company’s score increased from 691 in 2022 to 697 in 2023.

“Customers are still dealing with higher prices for everyday goods and services, and they’re turning to their bills and other utility communication for help in managing their energy spending,” said Suzanne Haggerty, director of syndicated research with the Energy team at Escalent. “While utilities have increased their communication spend after decreasing it in 2022, Trusted Brands are still reaching out to customers more frequently and across more channels.”

According to Escalent, customers enrolled in energy-management programs give their utility an 11% higher Brand Trust score.

“We value our relationship with our customers, and it’s important they know that we’re here to help,” said Sam Dozier, general manager of customer service for Dominion Energy South Carolina. “‘We remain committed to working with our customers every day and will continue seeking process improvements to reduce customer effort and improve customer experience.”

Dominion Energy customers can conveniently access many assistance options 24/7 through their online account or Dominion Energy’s mobile app. Options include payment plans, budget billing and payment assistance.

In addition to short- and long-term payment plans, energy assistance is offered through Dominion Energy’s EnergyShare program, funded by company contributions and donations from customers, employees, and retirees. Additional payment assistance is also offered through state and federal programs like the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). More information is available at DominionEnergy.com.
