CLEVELAND, Jan. 25 -- Dominion Energy Ohio announced that local Salvation Army offices are accepting applications for the company’s EnergyShare program. The program helps families who are experiencing financial hardships through unemployment or family crisis. EnergyShare pays energy bills when customers have exhausted all other forms of assistance.
To qualify for a one-time EnergyShare assistance payment, a person must live in the Dominion Energy service area, be a Dominion Energy customer, and must have:
Dominion Energy works with the Salvation Army offices to accept EnergyShare applications and to administer distribution of the funds. Dominion Energy covers the program’s administrative costs, so every dollar contributed to this fund goes to pay recipients’ heating bills.
The program runs from Dec. 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024, or until funds are exhausted. EnergyShare is supported by donations from Dominion Energy customers, employees and EnergyShare partners.
How to Contribute: Mail a check for any amount (made payable to "EnergyShare") to EnergyShare, The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 5847, Cleveland, OH 44101.
EnergyShare is in its 23rd year in Ohio and has raised more than $9 million, helping more than 96,000 people in its first 22 years in the state. During the 2022-23 heating season, more than 4,500 people received EnergyShare assistance.
