Dominion Energy Launches Program in Hopkins to Help Customers Save Energy and Money

CAYCE, S.C. (Feb. 22, 2024) – More than 1,900 customers in the Hopkins and Lower Richland communities are now eligible for free energy-saving products and services. Dominion Energy hosted a kickoff event this week in Hopkins to inform residents of the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP), which offers energy efficiency home assessments and other products and services to eligible customers.

Customers began receiving information on how to participate in February. Installations in homes will begin in the coming weeks and will continue through the end of May. Dominion Energy South Carolina started NEEP in 2013 to provide eligible residential electric customers with energy education and direct free installation of energy-saving improvements.

“We’re continuing to work our way throughout communities across the state, bringing customers energy conservation education and products to help improve their homes’ energy efficiency,” said Gerald Freeman, program manager of Dominion Energy South Carolina’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program. “Our representatives work with each customer to provide tips for their unique situation and home.”

Energy-saving products available to program-eligible residential customers include the following:

  • LED light bulbs
  • Faucet aerators
  • Low-flow shower heads
  • Electric water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes
  • Weatherstripping for doors and windows
  • Advanced power strips
  • Adjustment of electric water heater temperature
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning filter replacement

Since the program began, Dominion Energy customers in South Carolina have reduced electricity usage by more than 1 billion kilowatt hours – that’s enough energy to power approximately 92,000 homes for a year.

Dominion Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of EnergyWise programs that work together to increase overall energy efficiency and reduce energy usage. For more information about these programs, visit DominionEnergy.com/SaveEnergySC or call toll-free at 877-510-7234.
