Charleston, S.C. (Feb. 7, 2020) - As part of its five-year cycle to maintain public safety and electric system reliability, Dominion Energy will begin pruning trees across sections of downtown Charleston next month. The company will host an informative drop-in workshop on Monday, Feb. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Waterfront, 45 Lockwood Drive (2nd floor meeting rooms).
Representatives from Dominion Energy and the City of Charleston, as well as the contractors scheduled to perform the work, will be on hand to answer questions, discuss safety, reliability, proper pruning methods and more. The room will be set up with informational stations so interested residents may drop in at their convenience any time from 5-7 p.m.
Trimming will extend across approximately 29 miles of overhead distribution lines throughout parts of downtown Charleston. Work is set to begin next month and continue through 2020. Property owners will be notified by mail or email approximately two weeks prior to the start of trimming in their area.
To help residents better understand the project, oversized maps featuring the areas where trimming is planned — primarily below the Crosstown, between Lockwood Drive and King Street, and above the Crosstown between Hagood Avenue and Rutledge Avenue — will also be on display.
Residents unable to attend the meeting can call 800-251-7234 with questions about tree trimming, or visit www.dominionenergysc.com/treetrimming to learn more.
