Dominion Energy Offers Energy Assistance as Temperatures Rise

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program Funding Available

CAYCE, S.C. (Aug. 15, 2022) – With extreme temperatures and high humidity on the rise, Dominion Energy is encouraging customers who may be struggling financially to reach out for energy assistance funding, which is available through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and other resources.

“Heating and cooling can represent as much as 50% of our customers’ annual energy costs, and high temperatures can have a significant impact on summer bills,” said Sam Dozier, general manager of customer service at Dominion Energy South Carolina. “With August designated as LIHEAP Action Month, we want to assure our customers who may be struggling financially that we are here to help connect them with LIHEAP assistance, as well as a number of additional payment plans and options.”

LIHEAP is a federally funded program that provides qualified customers with bill payment and energy assistance, as well as weatherization and other energy-related home repairs. In 2021, more than 76,000 Dominion Energy customers received approximately $22.2 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP and other agency utility bill assistance programs.

To apply, Dominion Energy electric and natural gas customers must contact their local community action agency. Go to DominionEnergySC.com/assistance for a complete list of community action agencies by county.

Customers may also be eligible for EnergyShare, a company-funded, year-round program that provides energy assistance to income-eligible, elderly or disabled customers.

Customers can review a variety of payment plans and assistance options by accessing their online account or Dominion Energy’s mobile app.
