RICHMOND, Va. - Dominion Virginia Power prepared Tuesday for a winter storm expected to roll through Central Virginia beginning Wednesday evening that could bring with it snow, ice and freezing rain.
Freezing rain could cause icing conditions just west of Interstate 95 and from Farmville to Richmond.
Although the exact timing and track of the storm has yet to develop, the potential exists for icing conditions that could affect service to some of Dominion's electric customers.
"We're preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best," said Jay L. Johnson, president and chief executive officer. "Our crews will be ready to respond and restore service as safely and quickly as possible."
Dominion is taking the following steps to ensure the company is prepared for the potential bad weather:
Dominion has a diversified and integrated energy portfolio consisting of about 24,000 megawatts of generation. Dominion also serves more than 3.8 million franchise natural gas and electric customers in five states. For more information about Dominion, visit the company's Web site at www.dom.com.
