Employees volunteered 110,000 hours to communities in 2024

CAYCE, S.C. (April 30, 2025) –Three Midlands residents dedicated to serving their communities have been honored as 2025 Dominion Energy Volunteers of the Year.

Joshua Hugley, business analyst and Dominion Energy Volunteer of the Year honoree.
Nick Huffstetler, dam safety technician at Lake Murray and Dominion Energy Volunteer of the Year honoree.
Pheona Kelly, human resources consultant and Dominion Energy Volunteer of the Year honoree.

The honorees have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to volunteerism by contributing their time, talent and passion to supporting various local causes. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation will donate $2,500 to a local non-profit of each honorees’ choice.

The Dominion Energy Volunteers of the Year based in South Carolina are:

  • Nick Huffstetler, a dam safety technician at Lake Murray who has been with the company for nine years, is a 20-year volunteer with Little Mountain Fire and Rescue in Newberry County. He currently serves as captain, managing emergency response, training and grant-funded equipment upgrades. “Volunteering isn’t just about showing up, it’s about being there when your community needs you most,” Huffstetler said.
  • Joshua Hugley, a business analyst, is an active reserve deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. He joined the company three years ago after retiring from the U.S. Army, where he received commendations from two U.S. presidents. “The best part of doing this volunteer work is being able to help people and provide them with hope,” Hugley said. “Sometimes I meet people on the worst day of their life, and all I want to do is contribute to their overall safety and the safety of the community.”
  • Pheona Kelly, a human resources management consultant who has been with the company for 28 years, has devoted more than two decades to organizations supporting South Carolina’s Deaf and hard-of-hearing community through service with organizations like Beginnings SC and the South Carolina Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. “Dominion Energy has been incredibly supportive of my passion and the organizations that I care about,” Kelly said. “It says so much about how the company sees volunteerism and how the company is committed to and even encourages supporting the community.”

Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina, said, "Our local family of employees cares about our customers and the communities we serve. Pheona, Nick and Joshua are great examples of our employee volunteers who selflessly contribute to our neighbors and dedicate themselves to making a difference in people’s lives. I’m honored to work alongside them every day.”

Dominion Energy employees in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina are eligible for the Benjamin J. Lambert III Volunteer of the Year award. The program spotlights employees and retirees for individual efforts to improve their community. The South Carolina recipients were three of six honorees selected for their outstanding contributions to critical needs in the communities where they work and live.

Volunteerism is at the heart of Dominion Energy’s community programs and is deeply embedded in its history. Today’s employees continue to carry on a tradition of community service. In 2024, Dominion Energy employees volunteered 110,000 hours to communities the company serves, including in the Palmetto State. The company supports employee volunteerism and giving through a matching gifts and volunteer rewards program.
