CAYCE, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2025) – Dominion Energy recently partnered with the Piedmont Agency on Aging to host Energy Assistance Day, a community outreach event designed to help local senior citizens access essential assistance information and other critical resources.

Approximately 35 seniors attended the one-day informational session and connected with service providers to learn more about a variety of support programs available to income-eligible residents. Dominion Energy representatives offered customers tips on how to reduce their monthly bill and provided information on energy assistance options, including the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and EnergyShare.

“These Energy Assistance Days give our customers a chance to meet with our team face-to-face, making it easier to understand and apply for programs like EnergyShare and LIHEAP,” said Kaytee Watson, manager of customer assistance for Dominion Energy South Carolina. “The goal is to reduce barriers for seniors who may encounter issues with using online forms or finding transportation. In turn, they can take back what they learn and share it with their neighbors and communities.”

Dominion Energy encourages customers in need to explore the following programs:

  • LIHEAP: Eligible households receive financial support to help manage heating and cooling costs. Local Community Action Agencies may also provide utility bill payment assistance, emergency energy aid and home weatherization services.
  • EnergyShare: Funded by Dominion Energy, along with contributions from customers, employees and retirees, this program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Administration’s Office of Economic Opportunity through local agencies.
  • Flexible Payment Plans: Dominion Energy works with customers to find the best payment solution for their situation, offering both short-term extensions and long-term plans.

In 2024 alone, more than 66,000 customers received approximately $18.3 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP, EnergyShare and other programs.

To learn more about assistance programs or to apply, customers should contact their local community action agency. A comprehensive list of age ncies and information about other available assistance programs can be found at DominionEnergySC.com/assistance.
